AnnabelleAI is a ranch management and AI assistant app for iOS. This Privacy Policy explains what data is collected, how it is used, and your rights as a user. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how the app works.

What Data Is Collected

Data You Provide

When you use the AI chat feature, the messages you type or speak are sent to an AI service to generate a response. This is necessary for the app to function.

Data Stored on Your Device Only

The following information is stored exclusively on your device and is never transmitted to any server:

  • Calving records

  • Vaccination records

  • Breeding records

  • Pasture rotation records

  • Hay inventory

  • Ranch notes and photo attachments

  • Voice memos

  • App settings (ranch name, owner name, location)

Data We Do Not Collect

AnnabelleAI does not collect, store, or transmit:

  • Your name or email address

  • Location data

  • Device identifiers

  • Usage analytics or crash reports

  • Payment information

How Your Data Is Used

Your chat messages are sent to an AI service solely to generate a response to your question. Messages are not used to build user profiles, serve advertisements, or sold to any third party.

Third-Party AI Services

Depending on your settings, chat messages may be processed by one of the following AI providers:

AnnabelleAI Backend Server (Default)
The default configuration routes messages through the AnnabelleAI backend server, which connects to an AI model to generate responses.

Anthropic (Claude)
If you enable "Use Claude" in Settings and provide your own API key, your messages are sent directly to Anthropic's API. Anthropic's privacy policy applies:

OpenAI
If you enable "Use OpenAI" in Settings and provide your own API key, your messages are sent directly to OpenAI's API. OpenAI's privacy policy applies:

You are in full control of which AI provider is used. You can change or disable direct API access at any time in the Settings tab.

Data Retention

AnnabelleAI does not retain your chat messages on any server we operate. Messages are processed to generate a response and are not stored by us.

All ranch records (calving logs, notes, etc.) are stored locally on your device using iOS standard storage. You can delete this data at any time by deleting the app or clearing data within the app.

Children's Privacy

AnnabelleAI is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Delete your data — Delete all chat history at any time in Settings → Data → Clear All Conversations. Deleting the app removes all locally stored records.

  • Control which AI provider is used — Switch between providers or use the default backend at any time in Settings.

  • Review this policy — This policy is always available at this URL and within the app under Settings → Privacy Policy.

Security

All communication between AnnabelleAI and AI providers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS. Your locally stored ranch records never leave your device.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes materially, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
